Keep your lips well moisturized

 Moisturizing prevents your lips from being dry and chapped. Chapping of your lips results in dark, pigmented lips, hence it’s important to always keep the best lip moisturizer at hand throughout the day. Also, our lips don’t have any sebum or sweat glands which will supply our lips with oil and moisture during the day therefore, they depend on external care and protection we give them.

Always hydrates yourself

Internal hydration is as important as applying a lip gloss or lip balm on your lips. It prevents your lips from being dry while at the same time giving them a juicy lip appearance.

 Apply a lip gloss or lip balm before applying a lipstick

BY applying a lip gloss or lip balm under your lipstick coat, you are rest assured of soft moisturized lips throughout the day.

Exfoliate your lips
Exfoliation always gets rid of dead skin cells leaving only soft beautiful lips. You can use a soft toothbrush (apply your desired lip balm first and scrub using a soft toothbrush) to massage your lips twice a week or you can use a sugar lip scrub DIY (if you scroll down the page you will see the recipe).

Causes of dry chapped, discolored lips

Smoking – the nicotine substance found in cigarettes causes lip discolorations, therefore not only will refraining from smoking make your lungs happy but it will make your lips happier as well. You will help your lips to attain a beautiful soft feel and an even tone.

 Licking your lips – licking your lips make them dry, therefore replace licking with a beautiful coat of a good lip gloss or lip balm of your desired choice.

UV Radiation from the sun – sun damage dries out your lips and causes lip discolorations, so instead you can use a lip balm with an SPF to protect your lips during sun conditions

Going to bed wearing a lipstick – not only will going to bed wearing lip stick spoil your linen but it will cause lips discolorations and flaking. You can use a little olive oil or almond oil on a cotton ball to remove your lipstick in case you run out of a makeup remover. When going to bed always ensure your lips are well moisturized.

SUGAR LIP SCRUB

 When exfoliating my lips, I use a sugar lip scrub DIY because it gives my lips an irresistible beautiful silk soft feel.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 1 teaspoon of white sugar
½ teaspoon of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of pure honey
Almond oil or organic coconut oil
A dash of cinnamon

WHAT TO DO
  1. Mix the above ingredients into a paste
  2. Gentle scrub the paste onto your lips
  3. Leave it for about 3 minutes
  4. Rinse your lips and wear your desired lip gloss or lip balm
